 For the purposes of successful organising of the forthcoming Asia Regional Meeting being cohosted by IRCT and CORE, an ad hoc Organising Committee is being constituted immediately. The following members are the Organising Committee for ARM 2014 from 30th November to 4th  December 2014:

Dr Laifungbam Debabrata Roy

Dr. Laifungbam Debabrata Roy :President of CORE, L. D. Roy is an MBBS from Christian Medical College/Madras University and an MPH from Royal Tropical Institute (KIT)/Free University of Amsterdam. He is Co-Founder of CORE and H2H. He was also Project Manager, Continuum of Care Project (WHO India and OXFAM) from 1994-1996; Executive Director, CORE 2006-2009; Chairperson, Steering Committee of the Human to Humane Transcultural Centre for Trauma and Torture, 2009-till present and President, CORE Elder’s Council from 2010 – till present. He has been nominated by the government of Manipur as an expert member of the newly constituted State Mission Steering Committee (SMSG) for providing direction, policy and guidance for implementation of the ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) programme, a.k.a. “Anganwadi” scheme, in Manipur.

Dr. Y. Mohen Singh

Prof. Dr. Y. Mohen Singh : Ex-Officio Co-Convenor of the prestigious Asia Regional Meeting  2014 and  also the Secretary General, Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch. Prof. Y. Mohen is presently HOD, Department of Pathology, JNIMS, Imphal.

 

Namdithiu Pamei

Namdithiu Pamei : Deputy Director Namdithiu has been with CORE since 2006, leading our field teams and acting as the head of our legal advocacy team. He has a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from North-Eastern Hill University, and a Masters of Arts in Sociology from Madurai Kamaraj University. He is Coordinator the IRCT Asia Regional Meeting.

 

Takhelmayum Sunitibala Devi

Takhelmayum Sunitibala Devi  : Senior Counsellor, Sunitibala has been with CORE-H2H since 2010, before which she worked as a counselor with the Assam State AIDs Control Society. Sunitibala has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Dhanamanjuri College of Arts and later in 2007 graduated with a Master of Arts in Psychology from Guwahati University. Sunitibala works almost exclusively in the field conducting client visits as well as facilitating additional programmes conducted by H2H and CORE. She is administration in charge of the IRCT-ARMeeting event.

 

Sophy Lukram

Sophy Lukram: Research Officer, Sophy has a Bachelor of Science from Manipur University in 2009. Upon graduation she joined the CORE research team in 2009. Sophy works both in the office conducting research as well as in the field. She is finance in charge of the upcoming ARMeeting.

 

Sanaton Laishram

Sanaton Laishram  : He is an expert in logistics and run his own successful independent firm providing professional logistics services in all aspects with an international standard. His firm offer a wide range of high-value services and consultations to various clients with the strategic tools needed to excel in India and North East business arena. A man with many experiences, he is a founder member of CORE, and also worked with many international NGOs as a consultant, including Médecins Sans Frontières in Manipur and New Delhi.

 

Siddharth Haobijam

Siddharth Haobijam : He is assisting in his capacity as a media personnel in the upcoming prestigious IRCT-Asia Regional Meeting,2014 . He is also a photo-journalist and a documentary film maker.His works has appeared both in India and outside India.

Dr.Immanuel Zarzosang Varte : Executive Director, Immanuel holds a Ph.D in Cultural Anthropology with specialization in Tribal Development Studies, a Gold Medalist in Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts from North-Eastern Hill University. Dr. Immanuel is also currently a Visiting Faculty at Department of Tribal Studies, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University- Regional Campus Manipur. He is also currently Joint Secretary of the Hmar Inpui (Hmar Supreme House), an apex body of all Hmar-Mizo tribes in India and abroad.

 

Marion Staunton

Marion Staunton : As Senior Adviser of IRCT for Asia, Marion provides oversight and coordination of all IRCT capacity building activities in the Asia region. Marion has almost 10 years experience in the psychosocial sector in Sri Lanka. Before joining IRCT she was the Program Director with the Asia Foundation for two major projects on psychosocial support to survivors of torture and trauma. Prior to this Marion was the Psychosocial Project Manager and Coordinator with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), managing their projects under the Emergency Response Unit in Sri Lanka post-tsunami. Marion was also a Visiting Lecturer in the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and contributed to teaching in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Colombo. She holds a Ph.D in Psychology and a M.Sc. in Applied Psychology from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland.

Ngangbam ‘Khoimu’ Lokendra Singh :  Jt. Secretary, Elders’ Council, CORE is a many faceted man. His passion is “problem solving”. A great networker who loves the adventure of life, he is presently involved in setting up a school in Manipur for the Ram Krishna Foundation.

Fábio Pereira : As Senior Communications Officer at IRCT, Fábio serves as the Communications Team Lead and is responsible for furthering the mission of the IRCT through effective and targeted communications. Fábio leads the planning, implementation and adjustment of the IRCT Communications Strategy and day-to-day management of the Team; ensures an adequate positioning and a well-defined brand identity for both IRCT and World Without Torture in relation to its key audiences; and develops IRCT’s communications through digital channels. Fábio is also the communications advisor for IRCT members participating in the EU-funded DFI project.

Kumari Naorem : Client Service Professional. She has been with CORE since the late 90s, and is now working in the H2H for the past year after a break bringing up a family and pursuing her studies in Social Work at the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Surjit Nongmeikapam*

Surjit Nongmeikapam :  He is a Dance Movement Therapist (DMT) at H2H. He is among the young/pioneer choreographers and dancers in field of contemporary dance in North East of India as a contemporary dance soloist. Bonbon studied B. A. Choreography from Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography and has worked with the Natya Stem Dance Company and Natya Maya, Bangalore as a contemporary and traditional dancer. Surjit is a trained kathak , kalaripayattu, Manipuri, contemporary dance, Thang-ta-martial arts form. He trained as a DMT under Sohini Chakraborty of SANVED-Kolkata.

*Received the “Prakriti Excellence in Contemporary Dance Award (PECDA) 2014” for his choreographic piece “NERVES” this year on 23 November 2014 in Chennai, India.
